Tough time but happy time!

Hey everyone,

Another post to lighten up my day! I just want to talk about a few things! I hope that everyone is well and is enjoying the weekend!

At the moment, Paralysed in Evil is held up as it is taking me time to get into the writing aspect. There are few minor difficulties that I am having but hopefully soon it will all be sorted out! It is such a dark novel, that it is quite hard to write all the time.

Secondly, some good news for Bollywood/Hindi film lovers that Billu Barber, which is Shah Rukh Khan's home production is to release a day earlier in the UK! So the film will be releasing on the 12th February with advanced previews as this is confirmed by Eros Entertainment! While it is releasing worldwide on the 13th February. Also, people of the UK are also lucky to have Shah Rukh Khan attending the Zee Carnival on the 13th, 14th, 15th February! Alongside SRK, his co-star from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Anushka Sharma is also attending the Zee Carnival! Which for me is a double-treat!

Tomorrow, I will be posting my second part to 'Appreciation for Shah Rukh Khan' so that will be definitely a joy to write. If any of you have not caught Luck By Chance, if you can, please go and watch this! Shah Rukh Khan's two minute part proves to the Hindi Film Industry why he is the King and the only Numero Uno!

I will catch you here tomorrow...take care and look after yourselves!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Movie Review: Luck By Chance starring Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan

Hi everyone,

Luck By Chance has been in the news for quite some time as this is Farhan Akhtar's sister's directorial debut. Zoya Akhtar does not promise you just a good entertainer but an entertaining film with substance. You do not have to be an actor or be involved in the film industry to like this one...this is a film that can be used for any person in whatever field of work.

The film is all about two wannabe actors Vikram Jai Singh (Farhan Akhtar) and Sona Mishra (Konkona Sen Sharma). They both support each other in finding fame in the Hindi Film Industry and also have a loving relationship. Then there is Romy Rolly (Rishi Kapoor) who is a producer and is making a film with his brother directing it. The leading star cast for the film is Zaffar Khan (Hrithik Roshan) and Nikki Walia (Isha Sharvani). Unfortunately, Zaffar decided not to be in the film as his role is unconventional, hence leading the leading male actor slot open. Sona goes to a producer all the time asking for work, although he promises to put her in his big budget movie, he fails to live up to the promise. Then the film goes on to how Vikram gets the role in the film that Zaffar Khan opted out of and how fame or the road to fame can affect our relationships. Do we leave our loved ones behind? How people in the industry are like chameleons? Who do we trust in such an industry?

Visually, the film is excellent. Cinematographer Carlos Catalan does a great job and each scene has something to tell thanks to the brilliant screenplay. Writers Zoya and Farhan Akhtar do a great job with bringing the script onto the celluloid so beautifully. Each cameo in the story is backed up and are not just thrown in for the star value. A lot of praise needs to go to that.

The songs are all great and most of all, one needs to praise Hrithik Roshan with his dancing in 'Baawre'. He brings a lot of his positive energy into that song and totally looks like he is enjoying himself. The whole choreography for the song is amazing. All the songs strike a chord and are mainly with the narrative.

The director, Zoya Akhtar has done a tremendous job and this is possibly by far, the best debut for a director this decade. If the 90s has brought us Karan Johar and Adi Chopra then the decade of 2000 has brought us Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. Full praise for Zoya as she beautifully brings a film from a script and a screenplay and bringing it full effect on the big screen. She brings out every performance in the film amazingly, even the cameos do not disappoint!

For the performances:
Farhan Akhtar - Amazing performance and this is an actor-director that has full potential to go far. I am glad that he is taking acting seriously too. He brings out the character and shows how much someone has to go through in order to get to fame. He shows the dark side of his character with just as much passion as he shows the good side. Takes a very good actor to do that and most of all, I could empathise with his character.
Konkona Sen Sharma - Once again, this lady never disappoints. She totally understands her character and this shows in her portrayal. She shows how women in the industry are treated differently and that if a girl wants to become an actress, it is not about talent but more the look of the 'actress'. This beautiful actress shows in her performance that it is not the beauty in the body and face that make an actress but it is the acting ability that makes an actress!
Rishi Kapoor - The legend himself proves to why he is one of the best veteran actors of our time. He is totally into his punjabi character and one should see the scene when he is upset about Zaffar opting out the film. The way he emotes as his character is just amazing!
Finally, I go to Hrithik Roshan, who does a special appearance in this movie. What an actor and a surprise. He is into his character straight away and performs excellently! He leaves his mark graciously.
Obviously Dimple Kapadia, Sanjay Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Isha Sharvani all do an excellent first-rate job!
However, how can we end this without mentioning the one cameo that leaves an impression, that leaves a mark with one or two minutes. Yes, we all know who it is and that is Shah Rukh Khan! In fact, he is the turning point in the film and gives the most important message. This little cameo proves to not the industry but to fans of Hindi Films...that Shah Rukh Khan is possibly the most genuine star/actor in the business! By the way, that is no exaggeration, those that will watch it, will definitely agree!

Overall, a top movie exceeding immensely in every department. All praises go to the director Zoya Akhtar, I wish her all the best with her future films. She is a promising director! Farhan for giving an amazing performance along with Konkona. Hrithik...amazing performance and it was great seeing him on screen once again! Also praise to all the cameos especially Shah Rukh Khan! This film will definitely be a hit! It deserves to be, so get out of your homes and catch this film at a nearby cinema!

Rating: 4.5/5 - Excellent movie on all aspects!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Allegations

Hey Everyone,

As promised yesterday, I would talk about how to deal with allegations that other people may accuse us of. Now, these allegations could be small, merely gossip but they can always break any type of relationship.

Normally, people shout out loud how these allegations are wrong and they are not right. Hence, this provokes a lot more intense comebacks by those that are causing the problem in the first place. We then create an attitude towards those people, possibly not forgiving them. We ignore their existence but surely is that the right way?

Now, I have been accused of all sorts in the past and they all turn out to be mere gossip by people who want to see me down. Of course, it does affect me, it naturally would. There is no wrong in that. However, the way I deal with it, is a lot different. The reason is that maybe I have a big heart and do forgive people but that doesn't mean I am unaware of who makes these depositions.

I deal with them differently. I continue to meet those people that I know, do not like me. I still continue to acknowledge their existence. I still do forgive them. In fact, I forgive them straight away but I find it useless to talk to brick walls that do not understand who I am. I don't need to waste time on thinking about how to deal with them. I need to focus on my time on the people that love me for who I am. That is the most important thing. Take every bit of the allegations with a pinch of salt. Surely, it will only do good for you!

Hope everyone is well! See you around!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Face the criticism

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone has had a good day and all is well!

I do not see why people find it hard to praise others! Why is that? I was sitting down in my room, after a day full of lectures and thinking why do some of us look for faults in others? Why is it that we can point out the fault in others but when it comes to us...we see nothing wrong?

Think about looking into a mirror...the reflection you see is of yourself. Whether you like the way you look or not, that is what the mirror shows you. It does not create a false reflection. However, how can we mirror our personalities? How can we show people who we truly are? Is there a mirror that can show it?

The only way our personalities is mirrored is by the way people treat us. Now, before people start thinking...'but I have a good personality...why are people still bad towards me?' Tough, face the criticism because you have to. That is the harsh truth. You are going to get people that are jealous of you and try and put all sorts of allegations against you. The real question then goes to...how do you treat those allegations? Think about it...

Guys, a short post but that is what I wanted to share...I will give the answer to the last question tomorrow.

Take care and lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Take what is yours!

Hi Readers,

I hope everyone is well! It is great to get back to you and share some of my thoughts.

There are times, when things happen, we don't understand them but due to us not understanding those things, does it mean they are wrong? In situations, which we do not agree with, do we allow ourselves to conform to agreement or do we fight for our freedom and fight for what is ours?

When I mean by fight...I don't mean - Get your swords and shields out! I mean about fighting your unwillingness to fight for the right cause! When we know something is ours, that is rightfully ours, we should fight our own mind that may create doubts in getting what is not with us at the moment.

Sometimes, there are many pathways to deal with situations. If someone shows you a better pathway, it doesn't mean that your pathway is wrong. In fact there may be flaws with your pathway and someone is helping you improve it. Take help but ONLY if you know you can trust that person. Do not give up on becoming a better person, there is always room for improvement.

Even with myself, I find so many flaws but I know I am not perfect. I think I would stop writing, if I thought I was perfect. I have to work towards that perfection, if it can be attained.

Therefore...I end with a quote: 'Perfection can be attained with the constant mind directed towards improvement'.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you like the picture below. I really love it!

Take care and Lots of love,

Rahul N. Singh

Part One: Appreciation for Shah Rukh Khan - Honest Hard-work!

Hi Readers,

I've thought of something new for my blog. To have appreciation blog posts for some of the people, I hold significant. Of course, there are some people who have a huge influence on my life but I choose not to mention them on my blog. I will say that they know I do not need to mention them! They are beyond appreciation!

It would be unfair for me to start this new 'Appreciation for...' without Shah Rukh Khan. In fact, this guy will be a regular on this new feature. For the past two years, I have seen his work
closely and I have tried to look into one of India's biggest brands...the SRK brand.

His way of working, his way of life, his way of speaking, his way of emoting with his fans are all inspirational for me. Could one blog post explain all that for this man? I do not think it can hold justice for someone who has done so much.

My dreams of being a creative writer or even just following my dreams were ignited a year or two back. My dreams were awakened by a few people and one of those people is Shah Rukh Khan. In fact, as I write this, I am thinking of the best way to appreciate Shah Rukh.

Shah Rukh, came as a storm to the Hindi Film Industry, best known as Bollywood. He came as a scruffy looking man but he had one vision. The vision of being the biggest superstar! How he did that everyone knows. In fact, his journey is what inspires people like myself, who want to make it big in the entertainment industry.

What strikes me the most about this great guy is that he gives his true, honest opinion on why he is a brand or a successful man. He said on Oye! It's Friday which is hosted by Farhan Akhtar, that honest and hard-work is the way to be successful.
Those two words highlight what kind of person SRK truly is.

Honesty, if everyone on this earth was honest, wouldn't it be a better place? The fact is, we lack honesty in our lives. We think of how to better ourselves only by demeaning other people. Why not better ourselves by thinking or believing we can outdo ourselves? Religion or spirituality teaches honesty in it's core of beliefs. However, how many of us actually practice it? I agree that not every famous person is honest...but to reach where SRK has, then honesty is the only way. It would be true to say Shah Rukh Khan is possibly the most famous living man today!

With honesty there is a price to pay! Shah Rukh receives so much criticism by the media, by his own industry because it is full of, as I quote Karan Johar 'Dishonest Honesty' and due to that Shah Rukh Khan is faced by ignorance by his fellow peers. Due to Shah Rukh not conforming to 'Dishonest Honesty' he has to pay the price. People do not like him, more due to jealousy, whoever they may be.

Hard-work...sheer determination to succeed. That is what Shah Rukh is. He does not give up, as they say he has the 'Never-say-die spirit' and that is truly what Shah Rukh is. He does not give up on what he wants. I believe his hard-work is basically just out-doing his last success or moving on from his failings. A guy that can see his failure and not blame his audience shows why he is the best in the Indian Film Industry. Even though, his Paheli flopped, he didn't go out and criticise everyone who said it was a bad movie (Paheli is one of my favourite movies). He didn't go out and say that the critics are stupid (even though most of them are). He saw his failure, picked himself up and only worked on getting better. He works hard everyday, only to out-do and better himself. That is truly inspiring for anyone, in whatever field of work.

As I end this Part One for Shah Rukh Khan...it is true to say that honest hard-work is the way forward for youngsters and old alike. It is time, we follow this one aspect and make this world a better place. For those, that are like me, the entertainers, then surely looking into the success of Shah Rukh Khan is a push-force for us to achieve our own dreams. Part Two for Shah Rukh Khan will follow in the next week.

I hope you like this and if you want, please give your feedback either as a comment or in the shoutbox on your right! Or tell me of anyone, who you hold as an inspiration or who has made an impact on your life and would like to know why I appreciate them, then please do tell me. I do like to learn about other important people too and it'll be great for increasing my knowledge.

Thank you for reading!
Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Novel with content of 'masala'!

Hello everyone,

Hope all is well! Watched Valkyrie today, amazing movie. I give it a 4/5! I never usually watch war drama but I am glad I watched this one. Did I mention that Tom Cruise is one of my favourite actors in Hollywood? If I was you...go and watch this film! Plus, Cruise was on the Jonathan Ross Show last night! It was hilarious, it is worth the watch too!

Have a little get-together with some friends tonight, just a casual gathering. I am not much of a party person or even a clubbing person...they don't give me a thrill. However, if a party is an excuse to meet up with old friends and family, then why not!

I was on the tube (London Underground trains) today and I was getting quite a few looks. There could be two things, my stubble scares them or I am good-looking. I go with the former, I am not good-looking, even if the young ladies were smiling at me!

I have to say, I am now a 'Sameer' when I go out only for a walk. Well, I do not become him but I try to think like him, so I get to know the inner depths of the character. This is one of the reasons, why I like 'Paralysed in Evil', as I am trying to incorporate a new way to bring characters alive for the second novel!

More information on Paralysed in Evil! It is what is safely called a 'masala' type of a story. Basically, there is romance, action, good vs evil, heroes, villains, pain and suffering. The first half of the novel is rather light-hearted but it is the second half when things get darker. The transition is beautiful.

Anyway, I am off now to carry on writing the novel before I have to go to this party! I am a good boy...all I drink is Pepsi! Yes, I do not drink alcohol! There is a new fact that you know about me...

Take care and catch you tomorrow!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Movie Review: Raaz - The Mystery continues starring Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut, Adhyayan Suman

Hi everyone,

The latest movie out of the Bhatt camp, a horror movie directed by Mohit Suri and stars Emraan Hashmi, Kangna Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman. Expectations are high from this movie as it has excellent songs and had brilliant promos. Does it live up to the hype?

The story is about a painter Prithvi (Emraan Hashmi) who paints a picture of a woman dead, who happens to be Nandita (Kangna Ranaut). What happens is that Prithvi has visions and then paints them straight away and several times he saves Nandita. Once he paints the pictures he knows something wrong is going to happen to her. Her fiance Yash (Adhyayan Suman) is the presenter of a reality show, which shows that superstitions are wrong, hence he does not believe in the supernatural and expects Nandita to do the same. Raaz is all about the mystery as to why does Prithvi receive these visions? Why is Nandita linked to the supernatural events? Is Yash hiding something from one of his reportings?

Visually, every scene is perfect, there is thorough detail and you stay glued to the screen. Not a moment passes when you look around. The screenplay is very good and so is the story. The writers have made sure that believers and non-believers in supernatural events can watch this movie without any cringe-worthy moments.

The songs all stand out, especially Maahi, Suniyo and Kaise Ye Raaz Hai. All the songs go with the narrative and none of them are out of place. Each song reminds you of the story and you appreciate that as a viewer.

The director, Mohit Suri leaves a lasting impression and he is a fine director. To direct a horror film is definitely hard, as most horror flicks churned from Hindi Cinema tends to be laughable. However, Mohit handles it very well and keeps the audience interested in every scene and makes sure that each scene is significant. His direction shows that he allows the narrative of the story to play a huge part, with the characters being significant in playing a part in that process.

Now to the performances by the actors:
Emraan Hashmi - This guy impresses me after every new movie that he does. He allows his eyes to express most of the feelings as his character doesn't talk much. His body language is perfect and brings out the character. Also, he doesn't kiss in the movie, which is a new thing. An incredible performance and trust me, this guy has huge potential! I am a fan of his work now!
Kangna Ranaut - Not only is she beautiful but she can act. Her emotions just flow freely and allows the character to take over. Her eyes are used the most as she shows fear a lot of the time. When she is possessed, she does it perfectly. An excellent performance and she definitely has more to show us. I would like to see more of her on the screen! This lovely lady has a great amount of talent to show us.
Adhyayan Suman - An incredible performance by this relatively newcomer. He acts alongside Emraan and Kangna with great ease and matches up to their level of performances. I am totally impressed with this actor and I hope he goes far in the industry. At times, he is over-shadowed by his co-actors but that is nothing to worry about, as he is, I believe one-film old!
Jackie Shroff - who is in a special appearance and how much I do miss this actor! I hope he signs more films as he is an incredible actor and he shows it with this movie.

Overall, an excellent movie, a gripping story, excellent screenplay, songs that go with the narrative amazingly, great performances and a great movie directed by Mohit Suri. This movie has everything going for it and most of all it matches up to the expectations. it is definitely a movie worth watching! Go to the cinema and watch this! Hopefully it should do great business, a hit easily!

Rating: 4/5 - Excellent all-round!

Lots of Love,
Rahul N. Singh

Living in between realism and idealism!

Hey Readers,

Hope you are all well!

I wrote my 2nd Chapter for Paralysed in Evil last night. I wrote three versions and I must tell you it was a gruesome experience. However, I love the way the 2nd chapter has shaped up and it shows you the darkness of my protagonist Sameer.

Paralysed in Evil is a story that is between reality and fantasy. With any super-villain story or even super-hero story, there has to be elements of fantasy. With Sameer, he is a dark character and due to that he has dark humour. The fact is, he allows you into his world and he understands the world around him, he understands the people around him.

As I wrote and finalised the 2nd chapter...I looked at the evil in Sameer and the fact is, he is evil because he wants to be. He does not need to justify what he wants to do, he just does it. He lives in between realism and idealism. He knows that in order to have a realistic world, an idealistic world needs to be created in the mind. Hence, you can imagine what this character is going to be like.

If you have not read the preview chapter for Paralysed in Evil, check it out and I hope you do like it! http://chroniclesofacreativewriter.blogspot.com/2008/11/first-preview-paralysed-in-evil.html

I am going to go now and write the 3rd and 4th chapter. At the moment, I am still behind schedule...hopefully I will be on schedule by the end of the month!

Take care and catch you here tomorrow!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

I dislike negative talk...

Hi readers,

Hope all is well with you and I hope you enjoyed my blog post yesterday!

I was thinking to myself, more like listening to my own thoughts. I realised the amount of negative talk that I listen to. People share their problems with me, which I have no interest in knowing. In fact, when someone talks ill of another person I know...I get a headache.

Recently, someone called me and talked about a problem they had with someone. Personally, I hardly pick up phone calls, so if I do...you could say your kismat (luck) is good! Now, all I received was negative chitchat entering my innocent right ear. My face instantly looks as if it cannot be bothered and I listen and listen. When the phone call has ended, I felt as if someone had thrown me across the room and my head hitting on the rock solid wall!

I dislike negative chat and most of all, I hate how people question you to see if they are right...what do you expect me to do? I am only going to agree with the hope that the phone call will end as soon as possible.

I have already made it difficult to get in touch with me and it will only be best if people talk about something positive, like how they have helped someone! Not about how someone is playing games with them. What surprises me is that people know what not to talk to me about, so follow it or just don't talk to me. I have enough negativity in my life, I do not want anyone else to add to it.

Now if my phone rings...wait I won't even hear it...it will be on silent. That way I can concentrate on my work and not on silly little feuds!

I am not being negative but just voicing what I think. I guess I have reached the end of my tolerance with such matters. How many more chances can I give to people, who call themselves friends?!

Take care and just remember there is always a tone of humour in my posts!

Lots of Love,
Rahul N. Singh

Writing for 'Paralysed in Evil' begins!

Hi readers,

How is everyone? Hope all is good with you and I am wishing for the best of you all. I want to first congratulate America and the World for a historic day, when Barack H. Obama was sworn in as the 44th President! This brings me great joy and I am amazed by his words today. The hope is that now he does practice what he says and builds upon a world, which can live in peace and unity! The full text of his inauguration speech is found on this link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/obama_inauguration/7840646.stm

First of all, the good news for today is that the writing for 'P
aralysed in Evil' has officially begun. This is the most exciting projects and I hope that I can deliver the expectations that you have for me. I hope that I can bring a new identity to evil and that I can create a cult character that can be remembered. Obviously, I know how much it takes to write in 1st person as an evil character but it is enjoyable. I really don't know how to explain the feelings that go into writing this because it takes a lot of energy.

I have done a lot of preparation into this novel. I studied gangs, how they were formed, how they functioned and how they made money. It created a lot of knowledge and obviously, I want to create something different that is not part of the norm but can be accepted as the norm. I listen to soundtracks that have a dark undertone. I also have a posters up of the recent movie 'The Dark Knight', one of the Batman and the other of the Joker. This is for the basic reason that I understand that for evil to exist, good must exist! Here take a look:

'Paralysed in Evil' will take around 6 months to complete and with the way it is looking now, it could be a little longer.

However, I do have some bad news. My manuscript for one literary agent got rejected as my work fell outside their line of work that they promote to mainstream publishers. However, they did state that the manuscript was 'well-written' which gives me hope. My journey for the right literary agent continues!

Hope everyone is well and my love goes to all,

Rahul N. Singh

I blog - does it mean I have no life?

Hey Readers,

Hope everyone is well! I am really looking forward to Obama's Presidential Inauguration. I really do hope that he does act upon his promises and is not the normal politician that we are all used to!

I was once asked, in fact this person was trying to insult me...
  1. 'Why do you blog?'
  2. 'Isn't blogging for people with no social life?'
  3. 'Don't you have any friends?'
Now, I am a nice guy...I do not really care about what people think about blogs or even bloggers. Come on, our biggest celebrities run a blog! It would be unfair if I do not answer those questions, since I mentioned them!

Why do I blog? I blog because I am interesting. I like to show this world and not just my friends my interesting personality! Someone might find that sad...but you might have a Facebook account. Now Facebook is kind of blogging with those status updates etc.

So isn't blogging for people with no social life? Yet, it is fine to have a Facebook/Myspace/Hi5 account and constantly update your status's as if people care about what you are doing or how you are! I still have an active social life, most of my day goes by being at uni and doing uni work. Then, it is writing my novels. I watch movies and go out with my friends when I have spare time. Blogging doesn't mean that I sit on the computer all day and write a post out! It takes me a maximum of half an hour! Does that mean I am a spontaneous thinker/writer?

Do I have any friends? I think I do have friends. I am friends with people, I don't know if they consider me as a friend though! Only joking, I have a lot of friends, who I do try and keep in touch with. I am bad with keeping in touch with them but they are good with keeping in touch with me. I do have a large family too, so you know I got a large social circle!

There we go, I have answered them. I am not saying it is bad to have a social networking account, in fact it is a great idea! However, my life is only interested in this blog and not social networking websites anymore! Hopefully nobody will question me now, hey! Us, bloggers do have an interesting life too!

I will hopefully speak to you tomorrow, thanks for reading and I hope you do see the humour in my post!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Stop and search?

Hey readers,

I hope all of you are fine and well! I request all Hindi music lovers to check out the soundtrack from Dilli 6, it is amazing! A R Rahman has produced one of his best works in his career! Will write up my review one day!

Well, I have sent my first submission for my novel today and I hope I receive good results. It is a great feeling and I must say that I am sure I can achieve my dreams. It is all about self-belief. I hope God is kind to me, as He always has been. I want to also thank you all for your good wishes!

I was speaking to my friend yesterday. A white male, he got stopped by some officers under the terrorist act. Now what surprises me is that we cannot question if we are stopped and searched under this terrorist act! How is this justice in a democracy. Is the UK, now a country that is closing in on our personal freedom?

Now, I am a British Indian, although I do refer myself to be only a human being and belonging to no nationality. However, I do not want to be stopped and searched because of the colour of my skin! The thought annoys me. I do follow the law, do not think that I am going against the system. However, I feel that this will only separate society from the Government and the Police. Should we feel safe because of the Police or should we be in fear because of the Police? With all these laws that are going through, giving more powers to the Police can also harm the INNOCENT!

I do not want to create a political debate but I want to create awareness. I thought the UK was a country with democratic rule...however I think we are forming a new type of government! Personally, I believe youngsters should be more involved with politics and this can change the world in a big way. Youngsters have such a huge passion to move this country forward but an opportunity needs to be given.

Please do not take my words out of context. The intentions are clearly positive!

Thanks for reading and lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Movie Review - Chandni Chowk To China Staring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone

Hi everyone,

Chandni Chowk to China (CC2C) is a film that is produced by Hollywood's Warner Bros. This must mean added quality! Better story, better direction, better acting and most of all better action. There is one thing Chandni Chowk and China do not mix together in this movie.

The story...is there a story? Right, let me try and explain! Akshay Kumar plays Sidhu, a vegetable cutter in Chandni Chowk, who is raised by Dada, played by Mithun Chakraborty. Sidhu is always unlucky and goes to many mystic saints (mainly frauds) and one day encounters Chopstick, acted by Ranvir Shorey. Two chinese guys come along from China to find their 'reincarnated village hero' in Sidhu (Akshay Kumar) so that he can save them from the villainous Hojo, played by Gordon Liu. Happily Sidhu goes off to China meets Sakhi and Meow, both played by Deepika on his journey and Sidhu is distraught after Hojo kills Dada. Sakhi and Meow are long lost twin sisters and they reunite with their Chinese father, who trains Sidhu to be the karate kid! Since the story goes nowhere you find yourself watching Sidhu fight Hojo and wins! Oh...and some African dwarfs come along and apparently the next one will be Chandni Chowk to Africa...God save us!

Visually, you are left with nothing. You go home thinking, did I actually watch a movie based in China? The action isn't visualised greatly, in fact this is terrible to the standard that we once expected from an action King...Akshay Kumar. The great wall of China's beauty is not captured and it looks normal! The technological aspect is poor and imagine the villain as a potato...honestly I felt like my skin was peeling by Warner Bros! The film has far too many flaws! A potato that portrays the Lord Ganesh survives everything that happens to him! The climax...God knows what happened there! How could Sidhu gather 5 minutes of memory without the villain hitting him? How did two poor Chinese men get to Chandni Chowk? Why didn't the police ever get involved with Hojo? With this film...you have to take a lot for cinematic liberties!

The songs are forgettable barring Naam Hai Sidhu. The rest of the songs are totally forgettable. Please tell me what they were thinking when they choreographed 'Tere Naina'? The song itself is so sweet, yet picturised badly! It was nowhere near a love song that I expected!

The director...was there a director? Nikhil Advani...it surely shows that Kal Ho Naa Ho was ghost-directed by Karan Johar! How can you make such a film like CC2C? The story has too many flaws, the comic sequences are repetitive and there is hardly anything that makes you laugh. There is no entertainment. The action is poor for a film that looks like it will have excellent stunts and martial arts! Did you expect that your audience are that dumb?

Lets go to the performances, the main star of the film is Mithun Chakraborty, this veteran actor is a legend and was the only one that made this film bearable for me! Well done and please choose scripts that are excellent, allow Amitabh Bachchan to do these type of mindless roles!
Akshay Kumar - How long is he going to repeat the same act? He didn't make me laugh! I cannot empathise with his character! He cannot cry! In fact when he does cry it is the only time I laugh! Akshay, you have repeated your 'stupid and mindless' act far too much. In my opinion, this is his worst ever performance! Akshay you cannot do commercial cinema as good as Aamir Khan or Shah Rukh Khan! They beat you by a mile. You can walk but they are running in terms of quality and commercial success!
Deepika Padukone - Thank God, she did some martial arts! She should have taught Mr Kumar a thing or two! Average acting, nothing great!
Ranvir Shorey - I cannot believe that this is the very guy that was superb in 'Bheja Fry'! In this, you have shown the exact opposite! This is his worst performance and I guess Mallika Sherewat's 99 slaps didn't teach him a lesson on choosing scripts!
Gordon Liu - He was fine...nothing great! He was not scary as the villain either!

Overall, poor film, poor direction, poor production, acting is poor and the story gets nowhere. Fine, Advani told us to leave our brains at home. I did that, but now please tell me...my brain was at home but my senses couldn't cope with this movie! When I thought Singh is Kinng was bad, NO...NO...Singh is Kinng is a masterpiece compared to Chandni Chowk To China! This is simply a no-brainer movie only to be liked by people with a low IQ! Business should be average to the max!

Rating: 1/5 - Thanks to Mithun!

Synopsis - hard work!

Hey everyone,

I am back again, I am really enjoying writing on here everyday. Being able to converse with you, really does brighten up my day!

A few things brighten up my day, firstly waking up and praying to God! Having a shower, I cannot stress how much I love that! Listening to some Hindi music and seeing what Shah Rukh Khan is doing! His work and words inspire me as a fan! I also listen to Ricky Gervais's podcast, he is a comic genius along with Karl Pilkington and Steve Merchant! Listening to Karl's thoughts, one can't help wonder if he is a new-age genius! However, it makes me laugh! Then talking to those people that I am emotionally attached to! I enjoy that the most and since it is only a few, it always makes me feel fortunate to have them. Then most of all, writing my novel and on the blog, completes my day!

At the moment, I am writing the synopsis for 'Love is Complicated' it is long and tiring and I needed a break, so I thought blog time! Hopefully, I will send my first submission to an agent tomorow! God willing, it should go well!

Also, check out this video...I hope it works on here but I absolutely love it! It features SRK and Priyanka Chopra in their song from Billu Barber! I haven't seen SRK do this before but I like it. Girls are always lucky to see SRK, who is always doing something new! Priyanka is amazingly hot and I am sure us boys are in for a treat!

I hope you enjoyed the song and I will catch you here sometime tomorrow!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

Blogs - Controversial?

Hi everyone,

Hope all is well with you! Just a small post today, in fact this might be the next trend of this blog! I will possibly write more now and then. Actually I do not know, I guess I am just going to write whatever I feel!

Finished my exams and tonight I am constructing a list of literary agents. Something I should have done a long time ago. I guess I have been too lazy! But I am not lazy, I was caught up with a lot of things too. Oh well, excuses have to be made sometimes!

I am sick and tired of blogs written by celebrities that create a stir with the media. Big B has yet again gone and criticised Slumdog Millionaire. To be honest, I do not think that surprises me. After all, Shah Rukh Khan attended the Golden Globes to present the film. Oh let us not forget that Big B attended the Chandni Chowk To China premiere in London on Monday night. An Akshay Kumar film! Mind you, Akshay had once stated that some 'TOP' Bollywood superstar is trying to sabotage his career. Doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes to realise that he is on about Shah Rukh Khan! Well, at least Akshay is honest and told us to leave our brains at home when we watch Chandni Chowk to China!

I do not know if this blog post creates any controversy, I do not think it will. I am not such a big name, but to be honest, I might get someone that hates what I have wrote and will say something. Do I care? No! I am just stating my opinion like Bachchan Sir does! We all have a right to our opinions and media please let people visit Big B's blog, I am sure he doesn't need you to advertise his blog for him. He is a big superstar!

Right, I am going to sign off now and get the list ready! Speak to you tomorrow!

Love you all,
Rahul N. Singh

Do we create doubts?

Hi Readers,

Hope everyone is well!

First of all, what a great night for Hindi Cinema, as Shah Rukh Khan presented the film 'Slumdog Millionaire'. This was a big occasion for the Indian Film Fraternity as SRK is the first Indian superstar to present at the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards. This is definitely a golden moment for us all and I am sure it shows that Hollywood know who the King of Bollywood truly is! It does make me proud to be a fan of his!

Secondly, the major announcement is that I have completed the plan for my second novel 'Paralysed in Evil' and I hope that in the coming days of writing out the first half, it turns out well. I must say music does help. I am listening to 'The Dark Knight' soundtrack, it is powerfully evil and painful and also the 'Devdas Theme' from Devdas, which is about pain and suffering.

I will keep you updated on each day as I write. The first half of the novel is scheduled to be penned from 19/1/2009 and should end by the 28/2/2009 and then the second half is scheduled for the summer. Please give your good wishes that I keep up with my schedule!

As I was writing the plan for 'Paralysed in Evil' I kept thinking about Naina from 'Love is Complicated'. I miss Naina's character. I really enjoyed writing her character. The way she doubted her love for Rahul, she denied it and even said that she didn't love him. However, is it only doubts? Does she actually truly love him and doubt that she can truly love him? In my opinion, the most realistic character is Naina. Now personally, speaking for myself, I am the total opposite. I create my own doubts to make myself 'normal' if that sounds right? I never doubt my ability to do things, I create these 'doubts' in my mind, so that I can feel like a normal person. However, now I question...do 'normal' people doubt?

Thirdly, another announcement is that after 'Paralysed in Evil' my next novel will be another love story. This is a love story between two university students, with one lover being terminally ill. More details will be given later in the year.

I also have a chatbox on the right-hand side! Just leave a little message when you visit the blog. It be really good way for me to interact with you, when you visit here. Or you can interact with other visitors. Please do use it as I have paid for the service.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post. Speak to you soon!

Lots of love,

Rahul N. Singh

No more...

Hi readers,

I hope all is well! I also hope that you are enjoying my music and movie reviews, which is an addition to this blog. As most of you know me, I love Hindi music and Hindi cinema!

Getting into the post...I do not like lies personally. I don't think anyone does except for liars of course! However, I mostly despise people that act like they care about you and yeah, they mention how much they 'love' you, whether its friendships, relationships or family. Obviously, like I mentioned in a post in the past, there are a few genuine people that do love you! However, one thing about me, which I always thank God for doing, is that I can love everyone honestly and unconditionally.

I was speaking to a friend on the phone, I was told that my post on 'I don't believe in relationships.' was too kind! I found it to be harsh but I was told a different intake to that particular post. I was told that I even love my enemies and treat them with respect because that is who I am. I never praise myself but I will mention the praises that people give me... I am comfortable with myself as I know I am honest to myself hence I am honest to you! I am also very humble, so I know I won't be a bigot about my qualities.

However, as much as I get praised, I do get criticised! Although, my biggest criticism is for being boring. I think that is due to myself only talking about movies, music, the blog and my novels. I think that must bore some people. I think it is nice that some people find me boring, I know that my close friends know that I have a weird sense of humour.

Yesterday, I decided that I was going to quit Facebook! I don't think many people thought I was being serious, however I have left Facebook officially! The reasons are a few, some personal, some that I can discuss on here! Obviously, my main reason was that I wanted to concentrate on the blog a lot more. I would like to write on here on a daily basis. I don't think my posts will be this long. A few lines and that would be it. Telling you how I think about the day! I want to give my readers a little more insight into my thoughts! I hope it proves to be positive!

Anyway, take care and I will hopefully speak to you soon! Lots of love,

Rahul N. Singh

Movie Review - Slumdog Millionaire starring Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor and Irrfan Khan

Hi everyone,

Slumdog Millionaire...this one film has got nominations for Best Film at the Golden Globes, it won 5 critic choice awards and it wins most of all, my heart! What a start to the New Year for films. I started writing movie reviews with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, an excellent film. Then Ghajini, an average film. Now Slumdog Millionaire, another excellent film.

The story is simple, it is about a boy Jamal, who is born and raised in the slums in India, played excellently by Dev Patel and then finds himself becoming a millionaire on the Indian version of 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' which is hosted by the superb actor Anil Kapoor. On his journey in life, he has a brother, who lives for money but at times has a caring heart. Most of all, he has a childhood sweetheart Latika played by Freida Pinto. His journey on the game show is just because Jamal knows his childhood love would be watching it. Obviously, as much as society is corrupt, the police interrogate Jamal, however the police officer played again superbly by the talented Irrfan Khan by stating that Jamal is too truthful and honest and let's him go and then Jamal finds that destiny will shine upon him despite facing harsh ordeals.

With the visual aspect of the film, the director makes sure that the audience can live through the characters eyes. Whatever the characters see and the way they see it, the audience find themselves captivated by it. The slums, the busy streets, the hustle of the train stations. The Taj Mahal is shown beautifully in this film and I do find myself wanting to go again to visit India.

The songs, the music is amazing. AR Rahman scores one of his best work with this film. I felt like I was back watching Dil Se, which in my opinion was AR Rahman's finest work. The songs go with the narrative and one enjoys it to the extreme. Most of all, the item number at the end, I think that was a nice addition to the film. Boyle made sure that the 'Hindi Cinema' feel was also added to the film with 'Jai Ho'.

The director, Danny Boyle brings us an excellent film that maturely touches upon corruption, jealousy, prostitution, hypocrisy, destiny and love. He allows the audience to see everything through the eyes of the characters. The fact that Boyle allows the audience to see what life in the slums is like. Then touches upon destiny and touches upon truth and honesty. The message of the film being simple, if you stick to the principles of truth and honesty, destiny will be kind to you! It is something I believe in and I am sure we all do too! There was not one scene which I found was unnecessary! Well done to Boyle!

In terms of performances, we start with Dev Patel, who is surely an actor that has a long way to go and he can achieve great heights, whether it is Indian Cinema or Hollywood. He emotes perfectly, a lot of the time he is emoting with his eyes and he does it amazingly. He does not disappoint you. The scene when he finds Latika, he clearly shows how much his heart was wanting to meet her again and he allows his body language to do that! Great job.
Freida Pinto, again supports Dev excellently. She emotes with her eyes a lot, she shows the pain and turmoil that women face in a society that may teach honest principles but its society itself is corrupted with money.
Anil Kapoor plays an excellent host for the game show, we see the negative shades and he does it with subtlety, there is a twinkle in his eyes and I could not help noticing it. I am glad that he took this role that may have been small but was definitely unique.
Irrfan Khan, this is one of India's most talented actors and he does not disappoint here either. He shows how corrupted the police are when he is around fellow colleagues. But on his own, he has a heart and when it comes to truth and honesty, he will give the correct justice. Excellently played by Irrfan.
Also, it is important to say that every person that acted in this movie were brilliant. There was not one problem with any of the performances!

I conclude this film as definitely one of the best films of 2009. We do have more films to come but Slumdog Millionaire is easily one of the best. The story is great and the audience leaves the cinema with smiles! Dev Patel gives hope that British born Indians can act unlike Upen Patel. I hope Hindi Cinema grabs the talent of Dev Patel! This is clearly an actor that can act and is not in the business just for the stardom! Freida Pinto is beautiful and is a talented actress! She definitely can go far and let us hope that she chooses the right roles for her talent! The visuals of the film leave an impact and definitely makes you want to visit the Taj Mahal one more time. In fact, it also makes you want to see the slums and see everything for yourself!
The audience will love this film, especially if you enjoy meaningful entertainment! Go and get yourself at the nearest movie theatre showing this movie! Sum it up in one word - BLOCKBUSTER!

Rating: 4.5/5, an excellent movie overall!

Thanks for reading and lots of love,

Rahul N. Singh

Billu Barber Music Review starring Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta and Shah Rukh Khan

Hi Readers,

I bring to you the music review for the much anticipated Red Chillies Entertainment production Billu Barber which stars Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta in the lead. Shah Rukh Khan does a special guest appearance in this film. Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kappoor and Deepika Padukone are in item numbers. The lyrics are done by a number of lyricist mainly consisting of Gulzar. The music score is done by Pritam.

Marjaani
This is my favourite track along with Love Mere Hit Hit! What can I say about this song. Lyrics are great and the music is fantastic. The punjabi feel with the commercial content is just great. The visualisation will be awesome as we have seen by the promo. SRK and Kareena know how to make the audience go crazy with their item numbers! The chorus really does stand out and let me tell you, it takes you on another level. Pritam has hit it right with this song. Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan bring you what in my opinion is the song of the year! Gulzar does well with the lyrics and again needs praise for this. This song is a definite chartbuster with the audience! I also love the remixes to the song too!

Love Mera Hit Hit

I love this song just as much as Marjaani! Again Pritam gets this song right too! The lyrics are great and the music is foot tapping. I would love dancing to this and this will be big in the clubs. I love the visualisation and SRK and Deepika will fire up the screens with this song that has a futuristic feel to it. The chorus is amazing and even the english lyrics are done well. Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar are excellent in this song and bring up the value of the album. Ashish Pundit and Mayur Puri do a mindblowing job with the lyrics. This song is a definite chartbuster too and it will be big in the clubs and parties! This song is a Hit Hit!!!

You Get Me Rocking and Reeling
This is a song that got me hooked upon later and not within the first hear. I have to say this song will do great and what can one expect when the visualisations come out? Priyanka Chopra and SRK will definitely make this song a chartbuster! The lyrics of this song is also good and they make sense, even with the english lyrics! I love the chorus of the song. Neeraj does well with this song to after a great Love Mera Hit Hit! Sayeed Quadri brings good lyrics along with the song. Once again, Pritam creates a great music score! This song will end up bring a chartbuster with the audience.

Ae Aa O

This song is good and has a great feel to it! It is about how one should think about themselves and look ahead. I love that about the song! It is a song that will look at the best of us and I love that. I guess this song shows the introduction of Sahir Khan (SRK) in the film and hence you appreciate the music score for what it is. Pritam does well with this. KK is excellent with this song and doesn't dissappoint. Rani Mazumder and Suraj do excellent in complimenting KK! The lyrics by Neeraj Sridhar is once again top notch! If we assume this song goes with the narrative of the film then it should do well and will end up bring an anthem for those that want to be successful and look out for themselves in a non-egoistic way! This song might find itself becoming a chartbuster.

Jaoon Kahan

I love the way this song starts and the music touches the heart. This song is picturised on Irrfan Khan and this song will go with the narrative of the film. It is about an ordinary man's feelings and Sayeed Quadri does an excellent job in creating that mood. The singer is none other than the legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and he excels with this song. He brings it onto another level. Pritam is excellent with music and does excellent. It is a song that everyone will listen to on their own and contemplate on. The visualisation for this song will definitely make this song much better. It will do with the audience!

Billoo Bhayankar

This song brings you a village feel and this is what makes this track work. If it wasn't for the ordinary and traditional music and the ordinary lyrics it would not have worked. Pritam does excel with this and deserves praise for this song! Gulzar is amazing and brings the lyrics on another level with the village feel to it! I cannot wait to see the picturisation on this, Irrfan Khan will surely bring a few smiles with this song! Ajay Jhingaran, Raghuveer and Kalpana all make this song a special one! This song does not dissapoint and it is catchy! This might become a surprise as a chartbuster!

Khudaya Khair
This is one song which I love and to be honest, it is simple and that is what makes it special! This song is fully in hindi. I enjoy this song. Soham brings you into a world where dreams are meant to be fulfilled and what I guess is about movies. The visualisation will be good as it shows Lara thinking and SRK on a swing and riding a bike. So this should be a great hit! Gulzar does well with the lyrics and Pritam does well the music. The chorus is excellent and is the same that is used in You Get Me Rocking and Reeling! I love it and I think Pritam does excellent with that! This song compliments the album really well!

Conclusion

The songs are all great and the remixes go well with the songs. This music album is completely commercial and there is something for everyone in this excellent album! Pritam does well and of course, one is hoping that he has originally created the music and has not copied from somewhere else. The lyrics all make sense and this is one high point with a film that is known to have item numbers!
Depending on who you are, you will find atleast one good track in this album. I enjoy the album altogether and even the remixes.
Regarding the remixes to the songs, some people may not like it but I enjoyed them! Obviosuly, this depends on who you are but as a young guy, I love remixes aslong as they sound great and do not steal the greatness of the original song.

The ratings
For just the original songs 4/5! For the complete album including the remix then 3.5/5! Everyone go and buy this album because it is worth it and SRK will create fire once again on the music charts after Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi!!!

Lots of love,

Rahul N. Singh

I don't believe in relationships

Hi readers,

I hope everyone has had a great start to the New Year and I do hope this year of 2009 brings goodness to all. A special note that I pray that God brings peace to Palestine, it is sad to see the violence that is going on and I hope that the major powers of this world bring hope for peace and unity.

To go the topic of my discussion, it is towards my next novel 'Paralysed in Evil' which highlights the journey of a London-based gangster with Indian origins. In this novel, I do go against everything that I highlighted in my previous novel 'Love is Complicated'.

Lately, I have realised that I am a romantic myself but do I believe in relationships? No, I clearly don't. Not anymore! I don't think anyone can be true to you and most people are false and fake. They like to play with your feelings and bring out these words that are meant to mean something...yes, the words 'I love you' which is common for fake people to say!

In the past month, I have realised one thing...it is best to keep yourself to yourself. Never tell anyone exactly how you feel, that person will always let you down. I have created characters that show their soul to their lovers and give their soul to their lovers and the main problem is deceit. If that lover betrays my character, I would rather want my character to tell their lover that he/she is dead to them. People who cannot value or see positivity in your love, what is the point of keeping them in your life? Take them out..NO...NO...throw them out of your life!

The problem with people is that they fail to see positivity and it is people like myself that get beaten down for our positivity. I question myself...should I carry on being positive or shall I start creating feelings of negativity towards those that are negative towards me? But I do love all, that is my problem. I love and accept every human being, no matter who they are. However, I am sure God will forgive me if I show those people that have hurt me, a bit of what my pain feels like.

All I have to say to those people that don't like me or have hurt me. Wait, you may not even know you have hurt me but count yourself lucky that I haven't made you aware of it. All I want to say is that don't expect me to be me anymore. Those that are true to me, I am afraid it is because of these people that I have become so private in my own feelings. I only blame those people that have hurt me. To be honest, those that have hurt me truly and they know who they are...one message, in my world you do not exist, for you people, I am dead. For the very few people that I showed my soul to and have let me down, I am more than dead to you!

I only believe in true relationships and there are a few of these in my life and I love those people more than anything in this world. I am glad that these few people have so much value in my life and I know that I or even they will never let go of the relationship. I hope that God does protect these relationships as they are worth it!

As I end this blog message, it may seem harsh or whatever, it may hurt some but that pain you feel is only a mere 1% of the pain I feel. All I can say is that stay true to yourself only and I am sure God will bless you with a few true relationships because those people are true themselves!

On a positive note, in February I am getting the opportunity to meet Shah Rukh Khan again at the Zee Carnival and I cannot wait to see my favourite star once again. I hope this summer is also great and I get to meet my biggest idol, if not I will travel to India myself!

Take care and lots of love to all,
Rahul N. Singh

Happy New Year!

Hi to all my readers,

Firstly I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. May 2009 bring you everlasting happiness and success. May there be peace and unity in this world!

As I reflect on this one year, my first novel is complete, my blog is a success, I have started writing movie and music reviews for Bollywood films. Also, I have started writing my new novel, which is based on a London-based gangster!

I think the start of this New Year is that I am going to let go of those people that have let me down. To move on in life and accept that these people are not worth it. Even if I have given them my all, it would not be appreciated. At this moment in time, I have no time or effort to keep my relations with them. I have always tried to be positive but I guess it is this positivity that has shown me that who is true to me.

I guess this new year means a new beginning, a new start for everything. I must say that lately I have become more reserved and I think that is the way I will remain.

I do wish you all a Happy New Year and all the best for 2009! I pray that everyone gets everything they want.

Love you all,
Rahul N. Singh
