Love is Complicated: Women are honoured.

Hi readers!

Controversies, hatred between people, people losing a loved one and friendship's failing. All this has happened in the past month. Somehow either I have personally been involved in one of those things or I have seen others involved in them. However, one thing can overcome these things and that is positivity.

I read a quote somewhere and it said: 'A negative thinker sees a difficulty in every opportunity. A positive thinker sees an opportunity in every difficulty...so be POSITIVE'. I will let your mind ponder on that quote. Think about it for 5 minutes and gather your thoughts. Think about the times you were negative and think about the times you were positive. In those positive times did you see an opportunity in the difficult time you were in? The effects of your decisions, your actions were they positive? Was it creating opportunities for those around you or was you making their lives more difficult? Have a think about it...

Getting to the actual topic of the post, I am a strong believer in equal opportunity. Most of all, I have great amount of respect for women. I will admit that I have learned from my idols about respecting women, they have certainly, in a positive way, influenced my way of thinking. I will make this clear, that I am only influenced by positive aspects of life such as love, trust, tolerance, respect etc.

I have not talked about women in my novel that much. There are some female characters that are not known to you but have a huge impact on the story. Actually, it is the female characters that sort out the problems, that bring out the positive thoughts and actions, which leads to the other characters seeing opportunities in their difficult times.

Why do I choose the female characters to bring out positivity? Every women has the potential to be a mother. We won't go into biology but it is a true fact. The love that a mother has for her child(ren) is amazing. It is a love that is unique. A mother never thinks of doing wrong to her child(ren). With that thought in my mind, my female characters are all positive thinkers. They cannot do wrong and everything the reader may think is wrong, will be shown that whatever that female character did was right in the end.

Naina, who is the main female character is my favourite character. The story does become all about her and Rahul. However, the concentration towards the end is focussed on Naina. The story takes a dramatic turn and this is where the whole aspect of the sacrifice is changed. The story changes and the decisions that Naina makes is what is truly inspiring for anyone. I have said from the start that the strongest character is Naina but the most loved character will be Rahul.

However, there is one thing that needs to be noted. Rahul loves Naina. The one point that the reader will pick up is that he is the ultimate romantic. He loves only Naina to the extreme level that true lovers go to. However, he loves and respects other women, his love is genuine. For him, he does not have any sexual feelings for the other women that are in his life. He makes sure that the women in his life are honoured. This is what makes him one of the most unique characters that I will ever create. My male readers will respect him and my female readers will adore him, they will love him. That is the effect of the character Rahul.

Even with Rahul, he is someone that can forgive easily. In fact his weakness is his genuine love for women. Even if a woman does something bad to him, broke his heart, made him feel lower than anything, he would still love her. Even if he tries to break all ties, break every relation he had with that woman, eventually he would forgive her. In the end, he wouldn't be able to break the tie. The reason is simple, he loves women and oversees their flaws. My story does talk about why there are double standards between men and women. My story goes against those double standards and will show that men and women are equal and that is the bottom line!

That is the end of my post, I would like to know what you think of this particular post. Is there any questions that you want to ask me or any doubts you have that you want me to clear...please do ask. If you genuinely like this post then tell me that you do and which parts you enjoyed reading the most. If you did not like some of the things I wrote, then please do tell me. Thanks for reading.

Take care and lots of love,

Rahul N. Singh

OffBeat Fun: SRK or Salman?

Hello Readers,

Welcome back to OffBeat Fun! Well, what can I say, it is great to be back on track with the blog and most of all, this is the first OffBeat Fun blog post in a month.

Right, I think this is a time of evaluation. A time for when I think that all the successful people are having problems with their lives. I am having them and so is my idol SRK. But there is one thing about people like SRK that inspires many of us and that is silence. The fact is despite every problem that he has had, he has remained dignified and silent. That is what probably makes him the King of Bollywood. Maybe this is something you and definitely I need to learn.

However, one person that has given nothing but grief to me is Mr. Salman Khan. This guy has annoyed me to a level where annoying seems like a small word to express myself.
I am sure all those that have kept an eye on the news, Salman and SRK have had a fall-out. The fall-out took place at Katrina Kaif's birthday party. Now, the reason behind the fight is still something the media is unsure about. Salman says its personal reasons while SRK says it is because he refused to star in Salman's home production 'Main aur Mrs Khanna'. I believe SRK on this. he has a right to refuse any offer that comes his way. Is it really needed for Salman to make a fuss about?

Fine, Salman did a guest appearance in Om Shanti Om but that does not mean that SRK has to return a favour. Especially if Salman is a true friend. I am sure true friends do things for their friends selflessly. Maybe Sallu needs to look into the term friendship before he calls SRK a 'Matlabi Insaan' and that means a selfish person. As far as I see it, SRK is not selfish, as we all know he does not brag about having his own charity or doing so much for charity. In fact, he launched all his close friends careers as directors, Aditya Chopra, Karan Johar and Farah Khan.

Also, one thing that has annoyed me about this whole fight is that Salman is the one that is hurling abuses and SRK remains quiet. Salman, should we really look at what type of person you are? You have been accuses of hitting your girlfriends (this may not be true), he gets drunk and then drives on a sidewalk and kills innocent people. He kills endangered species and breaks film sets while being drunk. How can the media forget that this guy has gone to jail too? Yet, all the negative press has been on SRK. I think Salman needs a reality check before he says anything about anyone. We all know what he is like with Vivek Oberoi. Vivek even apologised to Salman for his mistakes but Salman didn't accept the apology. So who really is the 'Matlabi insaan' Salman? I feel my finger is pointing at you.

Going back to this fight. You would expect Salman to be calm now. You would expect Salman...after calling SRK a 'Matlabi insaan' that he would stop there. Well, this guy does not stop. In an interview, Salman was asked a question. I will give you the question and the answer Salman gave.
Question: You equate your relationship with Shah Rukh as the same as your equation with Vivek Oberoi. But Vivek Oberoi did a lot of damage to you in the media and public, did Shah Rukh upset you that much?

Answer: They have similar personalities. I don’t want to talk about it.
Now, please tell me how they have similar personalities and if they do, thank God it is not like yours. At the moment, you are just being a spoilt child who cannot have his chocolate ice-cream. The fact is what has SRK done that has insulted you infront of the media? By not reacting or responding to the news. How surprising because you know what Salman, I am sure SRK is not that stupid to know that your film was getting ready to be released. I am sure he was aware that your film would get more response if he reacted. 'God Tussi Great Ho' well, God was not so great to you was He? This film flopped and it deserved it. Only Aamir is good at creating controversies and making his film hits or blockbusters!

Next point is what you said regarding to a question asked about SRK. 'You must remember, true success doesn’t understand crab mentality'. For those who do not know what crab mentality is...it basically means someone who is selfish and is on the lines of 'if I can't have it, neither can you'. Please Salman, have you ever not talked nonsense? As far as being successful goes...SRK has definitely achieved more success than you have. In terms of professionally and personally. As far as we all know, SRK helps whoever he can, he even helped Hrithik who was meant to topple him off the throne of the Baadshah of Bollywood. So I find your comment to be somehow ignorant just like yourself.

Salman, I have not got into your acting in films and this is when you should thank God. I just want to say to you, that you over-act, you ham all the time, you should get yourself a new fashion designer if you want to maintain this 'macho' image that you have. In Partner, you had your belly-button pierced. Seriously, what the fish! Also your show 'Dus Ka Dumb' I find nothing great about the way you host it, although I must thank you for making me fall asleep when I watch it. It really helps my insomnia!

I conclude that the winner of this fight is certainly the one and only King Khan...Shah Rukh Khan!

Right, that is it my readers. Please, do take what I said as humour and not seriously. It is not meant to cause offense. Take care and I hope you had a great read. Write to you soon.

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh.

The first draft of 'Love is Complicated' is complete!

Hi Readers,
Hope all is well with you! I m sure you are all enjoying the Olympics. I absolutely loved the opening ceremony, it was so colourful. I saw Singh is Kinng and I have to admit that it is officially the worst movie I have ever seen. They say it is a brainless flick. Well, I guess I am not brainless because I did not like it. Bazmee and Akki have proved that they never heard of a script, in fact I am sure a wild monkey in India wrote the script. I will say that Singh is Kinng is not my Thinng!
I am watching Bachna Ae Haseeno this week, so I hope that this is a good movie. A few friends of mine have seen it and they have enjoyed it, it looks decent so I will watch it.

Back to topic now, I would like to tell you my readers that I have completed the first draft of 'Love is Complicated' today. I am sure this makes you all very happy. I will also like to remind you all that 'Love is Complicated' is the temporary name and it is NOT the official name for the novel. This means that from now till the 31st August I will be doing the necessary editing so it is good enough for the 5 special chosen ones that will read the first draft. Hopefully, they will enjoy it.

I would like to add to this very short post that after two years, I feel very proud that it is finally completed. I will be moving on to my next novel soon. The new novel that is planned is based on infidelity and the main characters are called Rahul and Naina. I will clarify that Rahul and Naina in this are not the ones from Love is Complicated. This is not just based on them but on three other couples.

I will take your leave now. Thanks everyone for the continuous support and I will write again soon! Take care and have a good week!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh

My characters are spiritual.

Hi Readers,
After around two weeks I have come back to the blog. I have missed writing to you all and it is good to be back. I have been on vacation and I really enjoyed myself.

But lets get back to what has been on my mind during the time I have been writing the climax. Let 's give you a little more information about the characters.
The title of this blog says it all. But the question is how are they spiritual? Love is Complicated does not not talk about religion but it is evident that the characters believe in God.

So why do my characters believe in God? Personally I believe in God so therefore that can influence the way I write about my characters. Also the characters need inspiration, they need strength from somewhere, so they turn to God. Mostly Rahul and Naina are strong believers in God.

Rahul is a strong character. He fears God but loves God. He knows eventually his prayers will be answered. Rahul had seen his father die and still keep faith in God. Rahul had to see the love of his life be in someone else's arms but how did he cope with that? Again faith in God. God is Rahul's inspiration and the Giver for his strength. The pain that Rahul had gone through is something overwhelming, it is not easy for a broken heart to see the bigger picture. Rahul could have anyone, he could have had someone 'better' but no that is not the case. Rahul loves Naina and he wanted Naina only. The question now is does Rahul get Naina? Does God answer his prayer?

Naina is a woman who is strong. She knows what she wants from life but she has her days. She has days when she thinks about things. God is kept in her mind and she does not really speak about her faith. However, she goes through what Rahul does but does she have the same feelings as Rahul has for her or does she go through what Rahul does with Nikhil? As a woman, she is strong and what she does affects the whole story, she influences each and every character and this is what makes this story more about her than Rahul.

As we can see, Rahul is a strong believer in God, he does not believe in a particular religion. The message of Love is Complicated is simple. The message is to love and love unconditionally. Rahul loves Naina because he does. He would do anything for her happiness and it is her happiness that becomes his happiness.

I hope you have enjoyed the read and it is glad to be back. I hope you have all been well in the past two weeks. Take care and I will blog to you all again soon!

Lots of love,
Rahul N. Singh
